Grab hooks are used to 'Grab' and shorten the chain being used. There are 2 types of grab hooks. The strandard grab hook and the cradle grab hook. The standard grab hook is more popular due to it's price point, while the cradle grab hook is casted in the middle so the chain can lay on it. This cradle design allows for 100% efficiency, meaning no loss in the working load limit.
Slip Hooks, such as grade 70 slip hooks, have a wider throat than grab hooks. Grade 70 slip hooks are available with or without a safety latch. The safety latch help prevent the chain from releasing.
For lifting applications and strong working load limits we supply grade 100 grab hooks and sling hooks.
Grade 70 & 80 hooks we supply are NOT for lifting applications. Only Grade 100 is to be used for lifting purposes.
